Originally, I was going to write a 5-star review for the new box-office hit, The Monuments Men. However, numerous reviews are already available (check out: MetaCritic). Thus, let us take a different review adventure:The Monuments Men preview trailers. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about the theater is getting to view the new movie trailers. They tend to stir just as much excitement, disappointment and conversation as the movie.

As some of my previous blog posts have mentioned, I love animated movies. My favorite animated filmmaker is Hayao Miyazaki. His movies cover many topics, but focus on coming-of-age stories and interactions with nature. These deep and visually impressive films pull at the heart-strings while impressing the eye. Any of his movies are worth watching, but these four movies will pull you into a new magical world.

As the summer spectacles roll out I fondly look back at all giant action movies. There are underappreciated films in the genre, many of which have been foreign films in the past few years. With dynamic action scenes and interesting cinematography, these action films all bring something different to the table. There are many movies focusing on martial arts and gun ballets, but here are a few that struck a chord.

Television shows often end too early or not early enough. Movies based on television shows can be retreads of old materials or new spins on old classic themes. When thinking about movies based on television shows, there are many more groan-inducing experiences and a lesser amount of engrossing experiments. There are a few movies that extend or breathe new air in their universe and here is a list of some of my favorites.
