Columnist Dusty Saunders Visits Anythink in August

Writer Dusty Saunders will visit Anythink Wright Farms on Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Award-Winning Journalist to Speak About Life in Media

On Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 7 pm, writer and longtime Rocky Mountain News reporter Dusty Saunders will speak at Anythink Wright Farms to share his experiences from his storied career while promoting his autobiography, Heeere’s Dusty.

Anythink customers and community members will have an opportunity to interact with Saunders, ask questions and participate in a book-signing. His autobiography will be available for purchase at the event.

"Dusty has a way of writing that connects directly with his audience, whether it's a feature article, TV recommendation or a column about sports," says Ronnie Storey-Ewoldt, Anythink's public services director. "I'm excited for Anythink customers to have a chance to speak to a local legend like Dusty, and to hear his many great stories from the broadcasting world."

Prior to joining the Denver Post, where he’s written a weekly TV-radio sports column since 2009, Saunders was at the Rocky Mountain News for 54 years. There he worked as a copy boy, police reporter, city hall reporter and feature editor before becoming the paper’s featured broadcast columnist, a position he held for more than 40 years.

Saunders is a founding member and past president of the Television Critics Association, a national organization consisting of broadcast writers from major newspapers and magazines in the U.S. and Canada. Through the organization and in covering television news, he spent time with such notables as Tom Brokaw, Charlie Gibson, Ted Turner, Bob Costas, Katie Couric, Peter Jennings, Ed Bradley and Tim Russert. During his career as a broadcast writer, Saunders interviewed many famous personalities, including Bob Hope, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Burnett, Bob Newhart and Alan Alda.
