Celebrate Market Day at Anythink Brighton

Market Day at Anythink Brighton

Celebrate Brighton’s agricultural heritage during Market Day at Anythink Brighton and the Brighton Cultural Center. Interactive programs are happening all day long at the library and throughout the Cultural Center for all ages and interests.

At 11 am, local chef Dawn Archer teaches kids how to cook with veggies. After her presentation, kids can plant their own herb gardens using seeds and egg cartons. Teens can participate in the fun during watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests. An alpaca from Snow Mountain Alpacas will be visiting the library for Market Day, and Snow Mountain’s Suzanne Thomas will provide demonstrations on spinning alpaca wool.

One of the day’s highlights will be a discussion with author Carol Ekarius at 1 pm. A self-proclaimed “country-life enthusiast,” Ekarius has written several books on raising animals, including Pocketful of Poultry, Hobby Farm, How to Build Animal Housing, and more. Participants will get an opportunity to ask her questions as she shares knowledge from years of working as an agricultural writer and environmentalist.

Other Market Day festivities include produce for sale by local growers, an educational symposium, food, art, music, activities and much more. For more information, visit brightonco.gov.
