Anythink Brighton to Host Sugar Beet Baseball League Exhibit

In conjunction with the Sugar Beet Baseball League, Anythink Brighton presents a month-long celebration of local history, culture and baseball this March. In addition to providing free baseball-themed programming for students, Anythink Brighton will also host a comprehensive exhibit of the Colorado-based Sugar Beet Baseball League. The exhibit, “Sugar Beet Fields to Fields of Dreams: 1920s-1960s Mexican/Spanish Contributions to America’s Favorite Pastime,” showcases photographs, uniforms, articles and other related artifacts of this significant and historical team. The exhibit displays at The Armory at Brighton Cultural Center, located next door to Anythink Brighton, from March 4 to April 12. Display hours are from 1-4 pm, Tuesday through Friday.

The reception for “Sugar Beet Fields to Fields of Dreams” will take place on March 12 from 6:30-7:30 pm at The Armory at Brighton Cultural Center, and is open to the press and public. Gabe Lopez, author of From Sugar to Diamonds: Spanish/Mexican Baseball 1925-1969, will be in attendance to provide additional information about the exhibit and its history.
