A new way to explore early literacy! This drop-in program is for children through 6-years-old and their parents. Five different centers will reflect one of each of the early literacy skills. Centers may include books, hands-on activities, crafts and music.  Participants will be gathered together two times during the hour to do a group movement or story activity.  This is a new and exciting way to create the path to life-long learning. Note: There is no program on Tuesday, April 2.

In this presentation, Joseph D. Clemens, CFP® will review the challenges of planning for your child’s higher education costs. Learn different strategies for saving, how college planning fits within a financial plan, and different strategies to help you keep pace with the rising costs of sending your child to college. This presentation will provide you with an independent and unbiased presentation on college planning from the non-profit Financial Planning Association of Colorado and as part of Money Smart Week’s Financial Education and Literacy Campaign.   • Apr. 15– MOVE IT: Let’s get moving! Join us for recess at the library as we play a variety of active games.
  • Apr. 22– MAKE IT: Celebrate Earth Day with a craft using recycled materials.
  • Apr. 29– BUILD IT: We’ll provide the Legos and building blocks; bring your imagination and see what you can create.

Have you tried Picasa but want to learn more? See how to edit your photos and share them with your family. Add tags, create albums and organize your pictures to make them easy to print and share. Bring a flash drive and pictures to begin working with photos. Registration suggested, but not required.

How’s your green thumb?  Need some tips on gardening?  Join plant expert Jeri Cretti as she helps us plant, care for and harvest a successful vegetable garden.  Topics will include: protecting plants against the elements, appropriate plants for each season and plants that can be replanted.  Attendees will leave with a vegetable plant that they have repotted in class.  We will also have a raffle of the raised planting bed, but you must be present to win.

Children in elementary school are invited to read to our wonderful dog volunteers. They join us on the third Saturday of each month. This is an excellent program for children who are learning to read or need practice reading. Our patient dogs love to listen and they never criticize.
