Say 'I do' to these wedding-themed movies

Here we are in mid-summer, the peak of wedding season. This wedding season has been extra special for me. On June 16, my one and only daughter was married. What a roller coaster of emotions! But now I am an official member of the I Survived Being Mother–of-the-Bride Club. For months my days were filled with wedding planning appointments, phone calls, dress fittings, etc. Now that I am on the other side of all the prep and planning, I can look back on it all with a smile and a grateful heart for all the time my daughter, Whitney, and I spent together making her dream wedding come true.

When I look back over this last year and all that went into her special day, one of my fondest memories will be of our sudden (or maybe not so sudden) obsession with watching wedding-themed movies and television shows together. Yep, watching wedding movies and shows was our "thing", our perfect way to de-stress, sit, relax and have a good laugh all while staying in wedding mode. If you too like wedding-themed movies, are planning your special day, or have a wedding or two to attend this summer, here's a list of some of my favorite wedding-themed movies to keep you in wedding mode:

My Best Friend’s Wedding
This is my personal all-time favorite (even if the big chunky cell phones scream the '90s) because it’s not just about love and weddings but also friendship. With Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz, how can you go wrong?

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
When a quiet, devoted daughter in a big, crazy Greek family gets engaged to a non-Greek, hilarity ensues! I will never look at Windex the same way again!

Bride Wars
Lifelong best friends have shared a dream since childhood to have the perfect wedding at the famed Plaza Hotel in New York City. When a clerical error puts them both down for nuptials on the same day at the same time, one of them will have to switch the date.

The Wedding Planner
A romantic comedy about a wedding planner (J. Lo) who falls in love. Will she get the job or the groom?

Mamma Mia!
This one is for musical lovers. When a spirited young woman decides to get married she is determined to have her father in attendance. The problem is, she doesn't know who he is, so she invites her mother's ex-boyfriends to the wedding and tries to determine which one is her father.

What is your favorite wedding movie?
