The Studio

What is The Studio?

At The Studio, it’s not just about what you do, but who you will become. We partner creative community members with teens to help push their creativity to new bounds. These creation labs are places where teens are connected with tools to express their creativity – whether they want to be performers, designers, filmmakers or sportscasters.

The Studio also describes Anythink’s overall approach to hands-on, participatory programming. Projects like Explore Outdoors, community gardens and Anythink’s mySummer program all encompass what The Studio is all about – providing opportunities for community members to explore their creativity, sense of discovery and connect with others.

The Studio at Anythink Wright Farms

The Studio at Anythink Wright Farms is a digital learning lab where teens can hang out, mess around and geek out (HoMaGo) with the latest in digital technology. Here, students have the opportunity to engage with each other and community artists in workshops that emphasize creativity. In addition to innovative programming, teens also have free access to the tools that are needed to fuel their passions. This includes:

Video: HD cameras, a green screen, tripods, lighting kits, Final Cut Pro and iMovie

Audio: A complete audio recording studio with a MIDI keyboard, microphones, instrument connections and Garage Band

Visual: Graphic design and photo-editing equipment and programs

Interactive: Gaming computers and video game creation software

Check the Anythink calendar for program information, dates and times.

The Studio at Anythink Wright Farms is made possible from a $100,000 grant funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Anythink is one of the first 12 museums and libraries in the U.S. to receive this grant and serve as a national prototype for the learning labs project.

The Studio at Anythink Brighton

It’s all about creation at The Studio at Anythink Brighton. Whether it’s textiles, robotics or DIY crafts, this makerspace has something hands-on for teens of all interests. (Be on the lookout for great programs for adults, kids and families, too.) Equipment includes:

 Makerbot 3D printer

Digital photography lab with multiple digital SLR cameras

 Sewing machines

Supplies for DIY crafts and textile projects

Check the Anythink calendar for program information, dates and times.

This program was made possible in part with a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services which administers the Library Services and Technology Act.
