Native American Art: Dream Catchers

Saturday, March 28, 11 am-1 pm

The Native peoples of the north have been making dreamcatchers for a very long time. Following the teachings of the spider, the dreamcatcher is said to catch the bad dreams of a night and burn them off in the sunlight so that the person sleeping under the dreamcatcher need not have nightmares. Learn more with traditional Apache artist David Atekpatzin Young about making and decorating a small dreamcatcher.

Native American Art: Ojo De Dios

Saturday, March 7, 11 am-1 pm

The Huichol people are the talented yarn workers of the Indigenous community. One of the many crafts they make with yarn is the Ojo de Dios, or the “eye of god.” Learn more with traditional Apache artist David Atekpatzin Young and create an Ojo de Dios out of sticks, yarn and decorations.

Mailing a letter to an elected official is a wonderful way to get your voice heard. Join Lighthouse Writer’s Workshop to get your cause on paper. Then, add some eye-catching art to your postcard with a little help from the Clyfford Still Museum. We will provide the stamp and get your postcard mailed. This program is drop-in; come and go as you please. Appropriate for kids in grades 3-7.
