Anythink’s Backyard Concert Series to be hosted online in 2020
Anythink’s annual Backyard Concert Series continues in a new and exciting format. To carry on the tradition of connecting with community through music, this year’s concerts will be hosted exclusively online. Streamed live, the 2020 Backyard Concert Series will be accessible to the greater Anythink community, from local customers in Adams County to library supporters and music fans around the globe. Those who tune in live will also have added opportunities to interact with the band, the library, and with each other – all from the comfort of home. Families are encouraged to gather in their living rooms and backyards with blankets, lawn chairs, bubbles and all of the other provisions that make for a fun concert experience.
The online performances will be hosted on the second Friday from 6:30-8 pm in June, July and August on Anythink’s Facebook and YouTube accounts.
As part of its strategic plan, Anythink believes in the importance of providing cultural opportunities for people of all ages to learn and connect through music, literature and the arts. The Anythink Backyard Concert Series is a fundraiser for the Anythink Foundation, and funds raised will help Anythink to provide special programs and projects for the community. Supporters are encouraged to donate online or text BACKYARD to 50155 to make a donation.
This year’s lineup includes:
Walker Williams Band – Friday, June 12
Leon and the Revival – Friday, July 10
Hazel Miller & the Collective – Friday, Aug. 14
The Backyard Concert Series is presented by Xcel Energy and made possible by generous support from community sponsor TBK Bank.
About the bands
Walker Williams Band: Walker Williams is one of the Rocky Mountain region’s most popular and entertaining country musicians. Having shared stages with Willie Nelson, Billy Dean, Sawyer Brown, Alan Jackson and Merle Haggard, Walker’s infectious country style will have you out of your seat and doing a two-step.
Leon and the Revival: Leon and the Revival emerged in 2015, when members of other established Denver bands decided to collaborate on a new project showcasing a shared loved of classic soul and R&B music from the 1960s and ’70s. Influenced by Otis Redding, Van Morrison, Solomon Burke, Ann Peebles and James Brown, Leon and the Revival fuse multiple music styles into a high-energy live musical experience.
Hazel Miller & the Collective: Colorado music legend Hazel Miller is back, returning for a third time to the Backyard Concert Series. Hazel Miller isn’t just a great singer, she’s a force of nature. Her decades-long career includes numerous awards and honors, including opening for artists such as James Brown, The Temptations and Mel Torme. Hazel Miller & the Collective perform an eclectic mix of jazz, R&B and blues.
