Anythink Washington Street is Now Open

Anythink Washington Street Manager Kathy Totten

After several months of renovations, Anythink Washington Street, located at 8992 Washington Street in Thornton, Colo., is now open. Guests enjoyed food catered by The Bagel Bakery and Cupcake Shoppe and music from local students at Sounds of Joy during the library's debut on Friday, Jan. 28.

The design concept for Anythink Washington Street is a comfortable, contemporary loft-inspired look. Renovations included refurbished interior spaces; improved computer area; enlarged children’s area; quiet reading nooks; new furniture, paint and carpet; and a first-floor community room for customers to utilize.

The hours for Anythink Washington Street are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 am-5:30 pm; Tuesday and Thursday, 11 am-7 pm. The library is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The Anythink WA staff is looking forward to welcoming back our patrons! See you at the debut!

Hi, my name is Sarah. I recently moved back here from North Carolina only to discover my favorite library was closed! Luckily I discovered it 2 days before reopening. However I didn't make it Friday, so I'm wondering if anyone could or has the time, post the schedule for the library? Thanks!

Hi Sarah! Sorry you missed the festivities on Friday, but the library is now open and ready to be enjoyed. Hours are M,W,F - 9:30 am-5:30 pm; Tues and Thurs, 11 am-7 pm. The library is closed on Saturday and Sunday. For more information about the Washington Street location, click here. Hope to see you soon!

Enjoyed getting back to see for myself the new look. I've missed this branch! Hope the book club will be back up and running soon. Bobbie

As of right now, we don't have plans to restart the book club at Anythink Washington Street, but we do have book clubs offered at our other locations. You can find all the details on our book clubs page. Anythink Wright Farms was lucky enough to have guide Katie Meis transfer from Washington Street - she used to run the book clubs there - and she is offering two at Wright Farms if you're interested.

An alternative I usually suggest is joining our Goodreads group online. It's not quite the same thing, but you can start discussions, talk about trends and favorites, answer polls, and see what other folks are reading.

This is my favorite library, and it's within walking distance of my house (and walking is really the only option for me at the moment). The hours seem quite a bit different from the way they used to be, and they look like they contour to the needs of students and people who work during the day much less. Saturdays are generally the only time I can make it to the library due to school and extracurricular activities. Why is this particular library closed on Saturdays?

Hello Krista, We are happy that you are enjoying the newly remodeled Anythink Washington Street. When we reopened the Washington Street library, we looked very carefully at the use patterns for the library. The highest usage is Monday through Friday, and, surprisingly, the Saturday usage was not as significant. While we would like to be open seven days a week, both daytime and evenings, we’ve had to balance our resources throughout the district. The Washington Street branch is open on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The Huron Street Anythink at 94th and Huron is open more hours per week and is accessible through the bus lines. We hope you will be able to use both the Washington Street and the Huron Street libraries and be welcomed by the friendly staff at both locations.
