Anythink Café to Close Temporarily August 31

The Anythink Café will close temporarily on Friday, August 31, 2012. The Bagel Bakery, the district’s current vendor for the café, is focusing the second half of the year on catering and the Thornton and Orchards locations and has chosen not to renew its contract with the library.

“Over the past year and half, we’ve enjoyed working with Michelle Martinez and the Bagel Bakery to provide coffee, snacks and cupcakes to library customers,” says Pam Sandlian Smith, Anythink director. “We wish Michelle and her team well as she pursues other endeavors.”

Anythink is currently exploring potential partners for the space and plans to offer fresh, delicious food at its Anythink Wright Farms location. More details will be announced later this fall.

I love the cafe!! Barnes and Nobles is 3 blocks from my home. I can go in there, sit and read all I want, use free wi-fi, and get coffee, cakes, sandwiches, etc. Losing the cafe, even temporarily, makes the Library less inviting and will force me to Barnes and Noble instead. Sorry to see the Cafe go, but please get something of equal or greater quality in there asap so I can return to the Library. Thank you.

We hope to have a replacement in as soon as we can! We're excited about some of the ideas we have in the works, so please don't go too far. Stay tuned for details!

Would love to see Anythink get even more healthy options (fresh fruit smoothies!!) . . . and nix the soda bar. Anythink has such a healthy mission/presence, great to have food options to match!

Fruit smoothies are great - but let's have both. I enjoy having a soda! Why does everyone think places should only serve what they want? Let's include everyone!

I love the concept of the Cafe in the library. That makes the library the ultimate "go to" place for my children and I. However, there aren't many options for us that are healthy. I would love to see more options, such as real fruit smoothies, water, and tea. I agree - nix the soda fountain. Healthy all the way around!

I'm very disappointed to be losing the cafe', even though I know it's temporary. Please, PLEASE do what you can to re-open with a new vendor soon. The cafe' is something which set Wright Farms apart from other libraries, and it's going to sadden me to see it closed. Personally, I'm hoping the new vendor sees the impact the cafe' has had on Anythink Wright Farms beyond just revenue (because, frankly, I think the last vendor simply looked at profit margin and didn't take into account everything the cafe' brought to the library.) I'm excited for the opportunities a new vendor can bring! In the mean time, can we bring outside drinks into the library?

I love the idea of the cafe, but honestly the prices were outrageous and the food was not that great. I would love healthy items too, but don't nix the soda fountain. I would love to see a place that is for everyone and not just what one group wants.

I have to admit, I'm not too disappointed that Bagel Bakery is leaving. I didn't think the food was that great and I agree with the above comment that the prices were outrageous. I like the fruit smoothies idea, but I also think the soda fountain should stay. If you don't want a soda, don't buy one, but don't take the choice away from those who do want one.

I am really sad to see the cafe go. Even if it is temporary, the people that worked there always brightened my day. They were so nice, and it wasn't just about the food, it was about the community having a place they could do a myriad of things and get some snacks too. The Bagel Bakery prices were totally reasonable, the food was good, the staff was nice. I hope that they use a local vendor in the future, as it adds jobs and income to the area. As tax payers we need to not just be looking at our libraries as a free space, but as opportunities for our families to better our community that we pay for. WE own the library, if the cafe isn't useful for everyone then there isn't a point to it. I personally would like to see a breakdown of the expenditures for the Wright Farms location in comparison to other Rangeview Library District locations. WE are paying for it, let's take some ownership!
