Anythink Brighton hosts community art exhibition

On Friday, Sept. 21, from 6-9 pm, Anythink Brighton will host an opening night reception for “The Disquietingly Beautiful Forest,” a multimedia art exhibition. “The Disquietingly Beautiful Forest” features mixed media and sound art designed around interpretations on a single theme. The exhibition is created by community members under the guidance of Anythink staff and artists in residence, local experts who mentor and support learning opportunities at the library. “The Disquietingly Beautiful Forest” will be on display through Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018. This exhibition follows the success of Anythink Brighton’s Artist Portfolio Showcase in January 2018, where amateur artists gained insights on professional display and developed finished pieces for their portfolios.

“Brighton has a great local art community, and we’re thrilled to be able to support that through a variety of experiences at the library,” says Anythink Brighton manager Kelly Allen. “We hope that everyone who visits the exhibition will be inspired by the sound and art creations, and join us in future opportunities to explore creativity.”

As part of the opening reception, Anythink Brighton will be a featured destination on the City of Brighton’s pARTy Bus route. The pARTy Bus takes passengers to different art receptions across the city, continuously circling its route so that people have the opportunity to get on and off at any time. There is no cost to ride the bus, and passengers are advised to park at any of the reception locations. For more information on the pARTy Bus, call 303-655-2176 or email dgallegos@brightonco.gov.

The reception is free and open to all ages, and light refreshments will be provided.
