Anythink announces reopening plans

All seven Anythink locations will soon reopen to the public during special hours beginning July 20, 2020. The library is opening as part of the State of Colorado’s Safer at Home public health order, and with guidance from Tri-County Health Department. Anythink has also relied on library industry advice and research to create safe reopening practices specific to the unique needs of libraries.

While some adjustments have been made in order to comply with state guidance, visitors will still be able to access many of the library’s spaces and services. This includes browsing materials, computer and printer access, technical assistance and additional product check-outs like cameras and sewing machines. Anythink strives toward building a community where people are happy, healthy and safe. With this in mind, the libraries will reopen with robust care and safety precautions. This includes:

  • Continuous cleaning of surfaces before and after customer use
  • Increased janitorial services and hand-sanitizing stations
  • Improved ventilation
  • Encouraged use of outdoor furniture and spaces
  • Contactless check-out
  • Reduced capacity in accordance with state guidelines
  • All returned library materials will be quarantined for 72 hours

To help contribute to a safe environment for all, masks will be worn by staff and are strongly recommended for all customers. Free masks will be available at each branch. Additionally, customers are advised to maintain a physical distance of six feet from staff and other library visitors. So that everyone can enjoy the library, Anythink is encouraging customers to limit their visits to 60 minutes.

“As spaces where people can dream, explore and create, our community is eager to return to our libraries,” says Anythink Director Pam Sandlian Smith. “Our staff has been working hard behind the scenes to create an in-person library experience that is welcoming and safe for all. While some library practices may look a little different, visitors will still be greeted with the same spirit of warmth and hospitality they know and expect from Anythink.”

For customers who prefer a contact-free experience, curbside services will continue while the libraries are open. Community members are encouraged to place holds on materials in advance, park in a designated spot, and remain in their vehicles while an Anythink staff member retrieves their materials.
