In fall 2021, Anythink and Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) partnered to bring community art to three of Anythink's libraries while exploring the artistic process through engaging collaborative art. Funded by BMoCA, the SCFD and the Anythink Foundation, the 2021 BMoCA at Anythink Fall Artist Showcase provided opportunities to spark your curiosity and celebrate creativity. A different artist was featured each month, highlighting three different mediums. Learn more about the artists and projects below.

SEPT. 2021 – Alejandra Abad at Anythink Wright Farms

Alejandra Abad is an interdisciplinary visual artist with a penchant for dense abstract shapes and fantastical landscapes. Her playful drawings, paintings and prints become moving images. Her work centers around collaborative projects, immersive installations, collages and animation that reflect her identity and values.

Abad continued her “Our Wishes” project at Anythink Wright Farms. Messages of hope from the community were gathered and placed on beautiful flags that were displayed at the library and served as inspiration to all.

As an artist in residence at Anythink Wright Farms, Abad shared her creative process with library visitors through drop-in sessions and community workshops.

OCT. 2021 – Juan Fuentes at Anythink Bennett

Juan Fuentes is a documentary photographer born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and based in Denver. His work captures everyday life and tells stories of contemporary America, highlighting the Latinx and Chicano experience.

At Anythink Bennett, Fuentes spearheaded a collaborative photography project to celebrate the immigrant and Spanish-speaking communities of the Eastern Plains. This project was funded in part by the Anythink Foundation.

NOV. 2021 – Armando Silva at Anythink Huron Street

Armando Silva is a painter, muralist and performer who uses his artistic abilities to tell powerful stories, build community and inspire audiences through art. As a recipient of a Governor's Creative Leadership award from Colorado Creative Industries, Armando has been celebrated for his collaborations with cities, non-profits, businesses and educators across the state and beyond.

Throughout November, Silva conducted a series of workshops to better understand local youth and what inspires them. Based on those interactions and inspirations, Silva painted an interior mural installation at Anythink Huron Street for all to enjoy.
