Family Place Libraries™ is a network of children’s librarians nationwide who believe that literacy begins at birth, and that libraries can help build healthy communities by nourishing healthy families. Parents and caregivers with children ages 0-4 are welcome to sign up for this five-week series. Different childhood experts will be on hand to talk to parents and play with children. Each week, new learning and exploration activities will be offered.

We trace the history of baseball from Abner Doubleday to Barry Bonds and tell a few of the legendary stories of the game, including the Merkle Incident, the 1919 Chicago Black Sox, the Curse of the Bambino, and others. We also discuss Jackie Robinson and the role of the Negro Leagues as well as how the modern era has been affected by the use of steroids. Bring your own favorite baseball story to share with the group.
