Make beautiful paper cherry blossoms that won’t wilt with age! This grab-n-go kit includes the required craft materials as well as directions for how to access an instructional video by Creativebug. Internet access and an Anythink library card number are required to access the video. Anythink Libraries offers Chromebooks and Wifi hotspots for checkout. Cultivating Connection with Kat Vellos

Join us for this three-part series about creating fulfilling friendships in adulthood. The series opens with a fireside chat with Kat Vellos, author of We Should Get Together: The Secret to Cultivating Better Friendships and Connected from Afar: A Guide for Staying Close When You’re Far Away. The second and third sessions in the series will be interactive workshops designed to help you create closer friendships in your own life. You’re welcome to attend one, two, or all three of the sessions in this series. All workshops are held in Mountain Standard Time (MST).

Fireside Chat with Kat Vellos

Making and maintaining friendships in adulthood can come with challenges. Author and educator Kat Vellos joins us for a fireside chat on how to overcome those challenges – even in a pandemic. Discover ways to transform a sense of disconnection into authentic connections and fulfilling friendships.  

SESSION 2

Word is Bond: Harness the Power of Writing to Create Closer Friendships

In this one-hour interactive workshop, reflect on the value of past and present friendships in your life, and use the power of the pen to boost the bonds that matter to you. Participants should have loose paper (especially if it’s fun or interesting paper but plain paper is fine too), pencils/pens, markers, envelopes, and stamps.

SESSION 3

The Friendship Map: Create an Action Plan to Weave More Connection into Your Life

In this one-hour interactive workshop, explore platonic connection from multiple angles to identify how you can invite more fulfilling experiences of friendship into your life on a regular basis. Participants should have loose paper or a journal, pencils/pens, and markers.

These programs will be held online in Mountain Standard Time (MST). A Zoom link will be sent to all registered attendees in advance.

Kindness rocks - literally! Brighten someone's day with a mini masterpiece on a river rock adorned with a kind word. Each participant will get their own rocks to decorate and embellish with messages for a stranger to come upon. These little decorated rocks can spark a kindness revolution! Supply kits will be available for pick-up at Anythink Perl Mack beginning on Wednesday February 10th. Supplies are limited and registration is required.

Join our virtual Happy Café – a space to discuss and encourage the importance of happiness and mental well-being via the 10 Keys for Happier Living, outlined by the international organization Action for Happiness. This month will be focused on the first key: Giving. For this program, we've invited The Meet Cart (powered by Betterish) to help us connect, reflect, and have fun by crafting Kindness Cards. Using DIY techniques, design yourself a personalized pack of cards that will serve as reminders, prompt an action, or simply encourage you to pay-it-forward. Together, discover new ways to build joy and create a more caring world.

This month, we will be joined by the Ni Shang Dance Academy as they show us how to do the Peacock Dance, a traditional Chinese Folk dance. The Peacock Dance is the most famous dance in the Dai Minority area, located in Yunnan Province, China. In the Dai culture, the peacock is a symbol of beauty, happiness, and luck. This program will be held online. It’s Mardi Gras, which means beads, celebration and…King Cake! King Cake is a delicious treat made during Mardi Gras, a tradition that dates all the way back to the Middle Ages. The cake is very similar to a Rosco de Reyes cake. Pick up your raffle ticket when you use our curbside pickup service between Tuesday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 12. One lucky winner will receive a genuine King Cake shipped from the Manny Randazzo bakery outside of New Orleans! Additional information about Mardi Gras and other treats will accompany the cake. Never threaded a needle before? No problem! This project will have options for brand new beginners and more experienced stitchers. Learn basic hand-sewing skills and embroidery stitches, and decorate a felt heart ornament to share with someone you love. All stitchers ages 10 and up welcome. Space is limited; register online and pick up supplies starting Monday, Feb. 1, at Anythink Brighton.

One kind word can change someone’s entire day, so spread kindness by giving away some hand-made delights to see the difference you can make. Each kit contains everything you need to create three one-of-a-kind greeting cards that you can personalize with your own thoughtful messages. Kits can be picked up at the Anythink Wright Farms branch. No registration required; supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Who says that homemade gifts are just for humans! This week make delicious treats for a furry friend in your life. Then join our teen Discord to show off your pet snacking on their homemade treats. Kits available for pick-up at Anythink Huron starting Feb. 8th. Appropriate for teens and tweens. Supplies are limited and are available on a first come first serve basis.
