Summertime is the perfect time for charity work – school is out and opportunities are plenty. Helping others in need, making this world a better place and finding a niche you truly care about can instill a wonderful feeling inside of anyone. Volunteering is especially great for those students nearing the college application process or for those looking to broaden their horizons, since such work allows you to try out new things while building your resume or networking. And, thanks to the Internet, there are new ways to connect and find opportunities to make it easier than ever to jump into this world. Traditional Opportunities

Denver Gives 

Founded in 2008, Denver Gives focuses solely on developing awareness and resources for nonprofits throughout the Denver Metro Area. The great part about Denver Gives is that there are a multitude of volunteer opportunities. 

Volunteer for America: Colorado Branch 

This organization is dedicated to helping those in need. Volunteers are enlisted to deliver meals to homebound senior citizens, renovating shelters, or providing childcare to students in the Head Start program.

Adams County Animal Shelter 

Love animals? Volunteer your time at the animal shelter and help pets find the perfect home.

The Extra Mile 

Do you have left over frequent flyer miles that expire soon and can’t be used? Donate them to The Extra Mile, an organization that helps those who cannot afford to fly to see a terminally ill loved one.

United Nation Volunteers (UNV) 

UNV is a website that is dedicated to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. This program will connect users with organizations working for sustainable human development. The user will work with the organization online to help them strengthen their impact.

VolunteerMatch.org 

VolunteerMatch.org posts volunteer opportunities available through your city for non-profits. They offer local and virtual opportunities in a wide range of areas, such as animals, children, community, educations, environment and more.
