Grand Opening Event

The Anythink Nature Library is a bold new vision for what a library can be — one rooted in access, curiosity and kinship, no matter your experience level with the outdoors. Here, roots run deep and ideas take flight.

Join us for the grand opening of the Anythink Nature Library, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Aug. 8.  Activities will be indoors and outdoors, and refreshments will be provided.

You’re invited to explore all 15 acres of this unique indoor-outdoor library, enjoy live performances, partake in family-friendly activities and experience storytimes led by Nature Library staff.

Events schedule:

  • 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Discover the wonders of our short grass prairie ecosystem from the ground up on the Root to Sky Loop. This immersive outdoor trail walk takes you on a journey through nature.
  • 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.: Join us for a fun, hands-on Cyanotype Art Project!
  • Noon to 1 p.m.: Pupusas will be served on the cafe patio, provided by LatinA Flavor Cafe.
  • 12:45, 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.: Gather in the Sunroom for fun and engaging Storytimes!
  • Refreshment stations and live performances will occur throughout the day!

What to know:

  • Given this event will take place partially outside in the summer heat, guests are advised to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
  • We suggest wearing comfortable shoes and a hat and/or sunglasses.
  • Strollers are welcome on the shuttles if they fold up for transport. Wagons are not permitted.
  • Library staff will be available to sign you up for a library card, answer questions and check out and return books.

Opening day partners:

We anticipate more visitors than parking spaces at the library.

  • Please park at Roger Quist Middle School parking lot (13451 Yosemite St, Thornton, CO 80602).
  • Complimentary shuttle buses will transport visitors to the Nature Library.
  • Shuttles will run continuously throughout the day at regular intervals (about every 15 minutes). Two options will be available: an ADA-accessible shuttle with limited seating and a standard school bus.
  • There are a handful of electric vehicle charging stations available in the main library parking lot.

The The Anythink Nature Library is a place where curiosity and care for the natural world take root. Grounded in the Environmental Kinship Model and shaped with insight from Indigenous and Native American leaders on the Anythink Nature Library Advisory Council, this experience-driven space invites visitors of all ages to explore their connection to nature through welcoming environments, hands-on TryIts, and guidance from knowledgeable experts — all within a community hub designed for learning, reflection and discovery.
