5 Action-Packed Movie Trailer Reviews

Originally, I was going to write a 5-star review for the new box-office hit, The Monuments Men. However, numerous reviews are already available (check out: MetaCritic). Thus, let us take a different review adventure:The Monuments Men preview trailers. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite things about the theater is getting to view the new movie trailers. They tend to stir just as much excitement, disappointment and conversation as the movie. So, sit back, relax, grab some popcorn and enjoy the reviews.

Feature 1 – Draft Day – Rating: One Thumb Up

Trailer

Release Date: April 11, 2014

I know Colorado is still feeling pain, anger, disappointment and an array of other bad emotions after the Broncos’ Super Bowl loss. Thankfully, Kevin Costner is here to bring back the football spirit in his new movie, Draft Day. From this tiny bit of film, the audience gathers Kevin Costner as the General Manager of the Cleveland Browns and he wants to draft his dream team. Co-starring Jenifer Garner, this trailer is filled with a few funny moments and a lot of Kevin Costner role-playing Robin Hood as a modern-day character.

Feature 2 – Three Days to Kill – Rating: No Thumbs Up

Trailer

Release Date: Feb 21, 2014

Kevin Costner film No. 2 (and yes they were played back-to-back in the theater) is an action-packed thriller about a retired assassin who has three days to kill his targets. With a dubstep playlist, some bone-crushing punches and a sweet family story to boot, my only response is: Is Kevin broke or going through a mid-life crisis?

Feature 3 – Edge of Tomorrow – Rating: One Thumb Up

Trailer

Release Date: June 6, 2014

Love robots and Inception? Then this futuristic war story might just be for you. Lt. Col. William "Bill" Cage and legendary fighter Rita Vrataski team up to battle an alien race that continually invades earth. The only problem? Bill keeps dying and coming back to life to re-live these fatal battles. With an all-star cast of Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, plus the killer robots, this movie has "summer blockbuster" written all over it.

Feature 4 – Pompeii – Rating: No Thumbs Up

Trailer

Release Date: Feb 21, 2014

So, you know when a preview starts and that daunting, goose-bump music starts as the black screen slowly fades to a picture and all you can think is, “Oooh, this is going to be good!”? Then you get to the end of the preview and think "...well then.” Welcome to the Pompeii trailer. Mr. Gorgeous, Kit Harrington (John Snow from Game of Thrones), plays the leading role of a slave-turned-gladiator who not only battles a corrupt Roman ruler for the woman he loves, but also the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which truly occurred in Pompeii in 79 A.D. Although the movie looks visually appealing, the plot line may be lacking.

Feature 4 – X-Men: Days of Future Past – Rating: Two Thumbs Up

Trailer

Release Date: May 23, 2014

I’m sad to say I’m a tad biased for this trailer, because I’m a huge X-Men fan – especially the new X-Men First Class movie. Mixing present and past, this trailer brings together the original 2000 X-Men cast with the First Class cast to bring you a chilling, beautiful story. If you go to see any of these movies, make sure it is this one.
